AP The last time a significant officiating mistake mistakenly granted a group a touchdown in a close game on national television, the NFL acted swiftly. Now the NFL may act swiftly once again. When the replacement officials provided the Seahawks a bogus touchdown to beat the Packers in Week Three, the NFL responded by ending the referees' lockout. On Thanksgiving, the regular officials (who looked a great deal like the replacements) provided the Texans a bogus touchdown against the Lions, and the NFL may respond by altering the rule that prevented that touchdown from being reviewed and rescinded. NFL executive V.P. of football operations Ray Anderson informed Mike Florio on the Dan Patrick Show that the league might review the rule that states the referee will not review a scoring play if a coach tosses his obstacle flag.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
